Charles Cronea came to the United States in 1819 at age 14, as a cabin boy on a French war ship. A series of events followed that resulted in Cronea spending the next year in the service of the American privateer Jean Lafitte.

Following Lafitte's expulsion by U.S. authorities, Cronea resided for a time in Louisiana, and then came to coastal southeastTexas, where he remained for the rest of his life.

Charles Cronea has thousands of descendants, and Jennifer is one of them. We have documented many of Cronea's descendants here.
