Don and Jennifer's Family Site |
Last updated on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 8:30 AM EDT Our journey to find our ancestors began in 1999. In those days, genealogy research was mostly done in libraries, court houses and graveyards. Federal census records were on microfilm and indexed in printed books. A few internet genealogy websites like Ancestry.com and Familysearch.org were just coming online, but their information was scant. So in the beginning of our journey, much of the information we had was incomplete, and unfortunately some of it was simply wrong. This year (2023), Jennifer started "Project Get'm Born, Married and Buried", filling in some of the gaps in our data. We now have over 20,000 people documented in our family tree. Don has noticed as he gets older that the text in Our Combined Family Trees has gotten smaller and smaller, and is now bordering on headache size. These trees are generated by our genealogy software (we use Legacy Family Tree®), and while the content is highly flexible, the format is not. He has just started a project to extract all of our family tree information from Legacy into our own relational database. If he succeeds, he will be able to rebuild Our Combined Family Trees in a more eye-pleasing format. There are links on the left side of this page to our home pages for the principal family lines that we have researched, each containing links to genealogical reports for those families, and some of them containing links to stories and historical documents pertaining to those families. Our Combined Family Trees contains every name in our genealogy collection, beginning with an index page listing the principal family lines that we have researched. When you visit the combined family trees, be sure to check the "Name List" or "Surnames" pages if you don't spot your destination in the index of family lines. Our Family Tree Search page will allow you to quickly locate the home page for anyone in our genealogy collection by searching for their name. Our Family Photos page contains links to old photos of people in the principal family lines. Many of these photos were contributed by relatives, to whom we are very grateful, and some of the photos were discovered online. Our Family Recipes page contains detailed recipes that we have enjoyed, many of them contributed by members of our extended families. Of course, we are always looking for additional information that you may have, including family photographs that you are willing to share, and we are willing to share what we have. Please note that we do not publish personal information other than names for living people, but we like to have the complete information in our database so that we can pass it on to the next generation when we can no longer maintain it. Also, we do not publish recognizable photos of living people unless the photos are at least 50 years old, or unless the subjects have given us explicit permission to publish the photos.. Feel free to look around, and come back as often as you like, as we frequently add new information and links. Please click on the Contact Us link at the left and leave us a message. |
