Nancy Charlotte Kessler, 77, of the New Hope Road, Princeton, died Thursday at a Princeton hospital.
Born at Elk Creek, Va., she was the daughter of the late Andrew Lewis and Leila Delp Cornett. She was a graduate of Elk Creek High School and the St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1934. She worked as a nurse for several years at the Bluefield Sanitarium, and she did private duty nursing in this area for many years.
She retired from Glenwood Retirement Village in 1975 with 10 years of service. She was a member of the Carr Memorial United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Bertha Farmer Sunday School Class and was a member of the Ada Bratton Circle and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the A.A.R.P.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry R. Kessler, a son, Henry R. Kessler, one brother, Richard Cornett, and one sister, Jessie Baldwin.
Survivors: son, William Andrew Kessler of Flat Rock, Ala.; daughter, Nancy Ann Kessler of Bluefield; three sisters, Mrs. Lenora Huber of Arlington, Va., Mrs. Edna Abshire of Princeton, and Mrs. Lois Pflieger of Reedsville, Va.; brothers, Gwyn Cornett and Edward Cornett, both of Elk Creek, Va., and Trevor Cornett of Roanoke, Va.; two grandsons.
Joint funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Burns-Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton, with the Rev. Bryan D. Carpenter officiating, and burial at Monte Vista Cemetery in Green Valley.
