Henry Rudolph Kessler Sr.

• Obituary: Bluefield Dailey Telegraph, 25 Nov 1990. ⁴ A joint funeral service will be held Monday for Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rudolph Kessler, of the New Hope Road in Princeton.

Henry Rudolph Kessler, 79, died Wednesday at a Princeton hospital.

Born in Bluefield, he was the son of the late William Henry and Ruby Tucker Kessler. He was a graduate of Bluefield High School and was a former fireman for the City of Bluefield from 1930 to 1937. He served with the U.S. Postal Service for more than 38 years, and was the former assistant postmaster for the Bluefield Post Office. He was later transferred to the Federal Building where he served as the superintendent of Postal Services until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of the Carr Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member of the Bertha Farmer Sunday School Class. He was a member of the A.A.R.P. and belonged to the National Association for Retired Federal Employees. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Charlotte Cornett Kessler, and one son, Henry R. Kessler.

Survivors: son, William Andrew Kessler of Flat Rock, Ala.; daughter, Nancy Ann Kessler of Bluefield; sisters, Mrs. Pansy Stowers of Bastian, Va., and Mrs. Edna Clifford of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two grandsons, William Andrew Kessler, Jr., and Nathan Henry Kessler.

Joint funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Burns-Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with the Rev. Bryan D. Carpenter officiating, and burial at Monte Vista Park Cemetery at Green Valley.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 6 p.m. today.
