Charles Finkelman 1
General Notes: Evidence suggests that when August Fingleman and his brothers, Louis and Charles, were enumerated in the 1860 federal census in Houston, Texas, their parents were deceased. The boys lived in the home of Carlotta (also called Lottie) Finkelman and her husband Maximilian De Bajligethy. Carlotta's father also lived in the home. Carlotta had been in the United States for several years, having immigrated from Prussia. She married Maximilian De Bajligethy in February, 1856. August and Louis immigrated to the United States from Prussia in 1857, and stories handed down state that they were victims of a ship wreck off of Galveston that took the lives of their parents. Charles married. |
