• Fact 1. ² John White brought his family down the Mississippi River to Natchez arriving in May 1782 with wife (Sarah Gambill) and children totaling
eight individuals according to the Spanish records of the commandant at Natchez. By 1785 John White had left the Natchez area (Natchez Court
Records by McBee). All of the following information was obtained from Southwest Louisiana Records by Rev. Donald J. Hebert, Louisiana Census Returns and Parish Succession Records.

John White made his will 15 August 1806 in Attakapas County, La. naming wife Sarah and children Jesse White, Sarah Dunman, James Taylor White and Susanne White. The will was probated 9 August 1808. The settlement
of the estate of Sarah White on 10 April 1828 in Lafayette Parish, La. names the heirs as Nancy White widow of George Burrell, Lucy White wife
of John Clark, James Taylor White, the representatives of William White deceased, Joseph White only heir of Jesse White deceased,
representatives of Mary White wife of Alexander Greer both deceased, representatives of Susan White deceased wife of John Lee, representatives of Sarah White deceased wife of James Dunman also deceased. Sarah?s estate was divided into eight parts. In the christening records of St. Martin du Tours Church John White and wife Sarah Gambill are listed as natives of Virginia or ?of North Carolina?. The parents of John White are listed as James Taylor White and Elizabeth Pou (or Sparks) and the parents of Sarah Gambill are Henry Gambill and Mary Dempot or Davenport.

John married Sarah Gambill, daughter of Henry Gamble and Mary Davenport, in Virginia.¹ (Sarah Gambill was born about 1748 in Virginia and died on 28 Feb 1828 in St. Martin Parish LA Territory.)
