NEWPORT NEWS - Wilhelmina Handy Cornette, 82, a Peninsula resident for 59 years, died Sunday, June 13.

Mrs. Cornette was a native of Troutdale and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Survived by her husband, Archie C. Cornette; a son, James A. Cornette Jr. of Newport News; a sister, Edna Johnson of Marion; and a brother, Carlos J. Handy of Newport News.

Visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home by Dr. J. Walter Martin. Burial in Peninsula Memorial Park.

BILLY D. DANIEL

NEWPORT NEWS - Billy Davis Daniel, 55, a native of Front Royal and a Peninsula resident for 29 years, died Saturday, June 12.

Mr. Davis was a professional engineer and the supervisor of Power & Lighting Engineer Branch for the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, U.S. Navy.

He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and I.E.E.E. He was a 1964 graduate of the University of Virginia Engineering School and the Warren County High School, Front Royal, class of 1956.

Survived by his wife, Shelby Daniel; a daughter, Angela Daniel of Newport News; and his parents, William Daniel and Kathleen Daniel of Newport News.

Funeral 2 today at Second Presbyterian Church by the Rev. H.L. Wilson. Burial in Peninsula Memorial Park.
