Hogue, Lois Akers
Lois Gayle Akers Hogue a long-time resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on June 3, 2015 at the age of 93. She was born on December 31, 1921. She was a member of John James Audubon D.A.R and served as a Regent from 1978-1980, Joanna Waddill Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and served as Chapter President from 1981-1983, Lamousse Gardeners chartered member, Woman's Club, and St. Joseph Cathedral. She attended Radford University in Radford, Virginia and taught school at Fort Lewis School in Fort Lewis Virginia until her marriage on June 18, 1943 at Drew Field in Tampa, Florida. Preceded in death by her husband, Trudeau Joseph Hogue Jr., Col USA Retired; her son, Trudeau Joseph Hogue III; mother and father, Stella Alva Wade Akers and Homer Carl Akers life time residents of Roanoke, Virginia; her brothers, Ward Akers of Nashville, Tennessee and Conrad Akers of Petersburg, VA. Survived by her daughter in law, Susan Hogue; grand-daughter, Julie Hogue Bergeron and husband Paul; and great grandchildren, Bennett and Anna Bergeron; two nieces, Dorthy Akers Thompson of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and Nancy Akers Shell of Nag's Head, North Carolina; four nephews Ward Conrad Akers-Nashville Tennessee, James Akers-Jacksonville, Florida, Steven Akers-Roanoke, Virginia, and Conrad Akers-Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and many great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at St. Joseph's Cathedral on June 5th, 2015 from 8:30 am until 10:00 am. Christian mass at 10:00 am. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
