• Obituary: Keith County News: Keith Co, NE. 1 Services for James S. Comer, 83, a Keith County resident for 74 years, were held Monday, Sept. 14, 1992, in Brule.

Mr. Comer, who owned Comer Plumbing and Electric in Brule until his retirement, died Friday, Sept. 11, at Indian Hills Manor.

Services were held Monday morning from the Brule Congregational Church with Rev. Russell Malchow, pastor, as officiant.

Burial was in the Brule cemetery.

He was born Sept. 15, 1908, in Comer's Rock, Va., the son of William Sampson and Mary Etta Schoupe Comer. The family moved to Wisner in 1911 and to Keith County in 1918. He attended school in Perkins County.

On Sept. 9, 1933, he married Ella Marie Bauer in Big Springs. He worked on the E. V. Cole farm near Brule until moving to Brule in 1941. He worked as a mail messenger for the Union Pacific after moving to town until opening Comer Plumbing and Electric.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Ella of Brule; two sons, James and wife Rosie of Holyoke, Colo., and Kenny and wife Frances of Virginia Beach, Va.; three daughters, Maxine and husband Joe Kipp of Julesburg, Colo., Mary Lou and husband Paul Crews of Brule and Lois and Stanley Schutte of Kearney; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Paul Struckman, Emil Schuessler, Laddie Hulinsky, Jack McClellan, Leo Langmacher and Glendon McShannon.

Draucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
