Fielden Hale Wright, 72, of Independence, died Wednes-day, Sept. 25, 1985, in Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta, N.C. He was born Feb. 9, 1913, in Independence, to John Wright and Minnie Sutherland Wright.

He was retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years of service. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of In-dependence Lodge No. 129, AF & AM, and a member of the In-dependence, United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Aina D. Wright two daughters, Mrs. Aina Gayle Bell, Tuckson, Ariz., and Mrs. Lynne Murray, Independence one sister, Mrs. Mary Shaw, In-dependence, and three grand-daughters.

Services were held in the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home chapel Sept. 28 by the Rev. Fred. Jennings and the Rev. Mike Powers. Burial was in the Independence Cemetery. Masonic services were held at the funeral home Friday at 8 p.m. by the Independence Masonic Lodge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Independence Rescue Squad or the Independence United Methodist Church memorial fund.
