William Reed

   Another name for William was Billie.

  General Notes:

William Reed, born in 1824, was the husband of Margaret Yarborough and father of four children including Thomas William Reed. All historical records we have found indicate William was born in Kentucky, although some descendants believed he was from Tennessee. Perhaps he moved from Kentucky to Tennessee at an early age.

We had recorded his name as Thomas William Reed based on information passed down, but the historical records we have found indicate that his name was William Reed, so we have now changed it . He was living in Brazos County, Texas by 1860, and we believe that we located him in Leon County, Texas in 1850. Family lore indicates that he ran away from home at the age of nine, passing through Alabama and ending up in Texas. This would have been during the initial anglo settlement of Texas along the Brazos River, led by Stephen F. Austin
