General Notes: At the time of John's father (John Lanthrope, Sr.) death he was a minor at about the age of 17 years. He was bound until the age of 21 unless his mother remarried. His brother, Joseph was also given the authority to dicipline John, should the need arise. 1 Noted events in his life were: • Fact 5, 11 Sep 1759, Prince George CO, MD. Indenture between John (X) Lanthrop, "Tarburner," and William Edwards planter *** land adjoining "Wm. Lantrop's corner ***Wm., Lovesee's corner." • Fact 1: He was given bacon, chees and 6lbs, 21 Apr 1774, Bristol Parish, VA. 2 The was given to him by the Vestry. • Fact 2: He was given various sundries by the Vestry as he is described as a very poor man, 18 Feb 1775, Bristol Parish, VA. 3 • Fact 4: 2lbs and 2 shillings were paid to Dr. Thomas Bonner's collector for the care of John Lanthrop, 22 Feb 1775, Bristol Parish, VA. 4 • Fact 3: The C. Warden's were given 10lbs for the support of John Lanthrop, 20 Feb 1777, Bristol Parish, VA. 5 John married Anne. (Anne was born about 1700.) |
