She graduated from Waller High School and then attended Texas State College for Women (aka Texas Woman's University) in Denton before returning to Houston to marry the love of her life. On February 16, 1941 Leona married Edward Magerstadt Lloyd at Salem Lutheran Church in Tomball, Texas and together they celebrated 64 years of marriage.
