Martin Edward Strugill

Mr. Martin Edward Sturgill, age 80, of Creston, passed away on Tuesday night, April 22, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 25, 2008 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Anthony Roark, Rev. Wayne Roark and Rev. Denton Hart officiating. Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 26, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Surgill-Lewis Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, two hours prior to the funeral service.

Mr. Sturgill was born in Ashe County on Monday, July 4, 1927 to the late Mason Lillard and Mary Lizabeth Houser Sturgill.

He is survived by three daughters, Cathy Pennington of Creston and Carol Osorne, both of Creston and Martha Sturgill og Lenoir; five grandchildren, six great-granchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
