Roland Saunders Jary, 78, passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 2015. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Roland was born Jan. 26, 1936, in Fort Worth. He attended Arlington Heights High School and continued his education with degrees from TCU (BA 1959), Texas A&M (BS 1965) and again at TCU (MS 1977). Roland earned a commission as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and served around the globe in Vietnam, Hawaii, Chile and Ecuador until 1974. He was awarded Bronze Star, Meritorious Service, Army Commendation, Vietnamese Campaign and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry medals. He later worked at Southwestern Laboratories eventually becoming company president before retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and was a Pantego city councilman. Roland was a caring, loving and humorous soul who will be sorely missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jane Saunders and Roland Edmund Jary. Survivors: Son, Matthew Saunders Jary and wife, Julie; daughter, Janiece L. Jary; and grandchildren, Grace Bethany Minnick and Jordan Kate Jary. Roland married Linda Ann Gordanier. |
