• Obituary. 7 Wendell W. "Jack" Johnson, 92, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, at his home in Pacific Beach, with his loving family by his side. He was born on Nov. 12, 1915, in Plumtree, N.C., to David and Ada (Taylor) Johnson.
Jack served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and in 1950, he moved to Washington. He worked at Baker and Ross Dams as a powder monkey until moving to Pacific Beach, in 1965. Jack cut shake bolts and then introduced shake blocks to Aloha Shake Co. Later, he cut and hauled blocks from the Quinault Indian Reservation working up to age 86.
Jack was married to Marjorie Gray on Nov. 26, 1975, in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post #5 in Aberdeen for 45 years and he enjoyed fishing and playing bingo.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Johnson of the family home in Pacific Beach; his children, Evelyn S. Johnson and her husband, Marvin of Sedro-Woolley, Vernon W. Johnson of Rockport, Phyllis Reynolds and her husband, Don of Rockport, Ada Mae Woffinden of Pacific Beach, Charles Gray of Hungry Horse, Mont., Kenneth Gray of Kelso; and a son-in-law, Eddie Aldridge of Rockport; two brothers, Lee Johnson of Clear Lake, and Frank Johnson of Copalis Crossing; three sisters, Violet McGaughty of Edgewood, N.M., and Maude Wilcox and Allie Carpenter both of Morganton, N.C.; a special nephew, Wayne "Jabo" Johnson of Hoquiam; 29 grandchildren; 50 great- grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry "Pudge" Johnson; a daughter, Carolyn Aldridge; a son, Ronald Waltmom; four brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 2 p.m., at the Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Interment with military honors will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
