Hildred Joseph Roark

Hildred Joseph "Joe" Roark, of Conowingo, MD, passed away suddenly January 7, 2009, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD, at the age of 86.

He was born in Ashe County, NC, on October 24, 1922, to the late Hobart and Bessie (Lewis) Roark. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Atlantic and Pacific areas. He worked for 33 years at the Wilmington Shops and retired from Amtrak in 1982.

He is survived by his wife, Helen (Krauss) Roark; a daughter, Joann, and her husband Walter Cummings of Middletown, DE; a step-son, Kenneth Griest, and wife Betty of Bear, DE; a sister, Vivian Allen, of Hamptonville, NC; a sister-in-law, Carol Roark, of Hickory, NC; and a brother-in-law, Henry Anderson, of Rock Hill, SC. He was predeceased by 1 sister Margaret Anderson; 3 brothers Harold, Francis, and Glen Roark; and 1 brother-in-law, Bruce Allen.

Service will be held at 11 am on Monday, January 12, 2009 at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD where friends may call 1 hour prior. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Peach Bottom, PA. The family requests no flowers.
