• Obituary: Pleasonton Express, 29 Oct 2008, Atascosa CO, TX. ² Eva Jane Peveto Dowdy passed away on Sunday, October 26, in Pleasanton at the age of 88. She was born in Orange, Texas on December 18, 1919, to Calvin and Elizabeth Lilley Peveto. She married Raymond Dowdy on October 7, 1938. They moved to Pleasanton in 1950. In March, 1956, they opened Dowdy's Men & Boy's Wear and worked side by side for over 40 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pleasanton and was involved with the restoration of the Old Rock School House. Eva Jane was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the Longhorn Museum Society and the Rebekah Lodge. For many years you would see Eva Jane serving at the Pleasanton Lions Club Wild Game Dinners where Raymond was a member. Eva Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond. She is survived by her daughter Janie Raye Wehman and husband Bubba, her sons Preston Dowdy and wife Lynn, Craig and wife Mary all of Pleasanton. She is also survived by nine grandchildren Staci Jones, JJ Owens, Wade Dowdy and wife Leslie, Beth Moos and husband Chad, Sarah Evans and husband Robby, Meredith Rutherford and husband Guy, Ruth Conroy and husband Curt, Rebecca Garza and husband Josh all of Pleasanton and Andra Smith and her husband Craig of Sequim, WA and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton, from 2 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2008. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, evening. The funeral service will be held at Hurley Funeral Chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Interment will be at Pleasanton City Cemetery in Pleasanton. Pall bearers will be Wade Dowdy, Chad Moos, Robby Evans, Guy Rutherford, Curt Conroy, Josh Garza and Tyler Jones.
