• Obituary: Bryan-College Station Eagle, 20 Apr 2001, Brazos CO, TX. 1 Services for Oleta Hughes Powell, 91, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Floeck will officiate. Burial will be in the Restever Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Powell died Wednesday at Brazos Oaks.
She was born in Milam County and lived in Bryan for over 50 years. She was a homemaker and member of the Campus Study Club and First Baptist Church of College Station. She attended Baylor University.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Wayland Hughes and Edwin E. Powell.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas W. and Kathie Hughes of Baytown; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Norman Floeck of College Station; a sister, Velma R. Rowsey of Los Angeles, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of College Station, 2300 Welsh Ave., C.S., 77845.
