• Obituary: Watauga Democrat, 13 May 2005, Watauga Co, NC. ⁵ Mr. John Henry "Pedro" Hodges, 78, of Little Laurel Road, Boone, died Saturday afternoon, May 7, 2005, at the Davant Rehab and Extended Care Facility in Blowing Rock.
He was born in Watauga County, April 10, 1927, a son of the late Charles Newland and Mary Anna Roark Hodges.
Mr. Hodges was retired, and had previously worked at Appalachian State University and English Gardens.
Survivors include five nieces, Wanda Yount of Granite Falls, Mary Ann Perry of Silverstone, Tammy Bentley, Linda Debbs and Jerrie Dampman, all of Boone; one nephew, Clyde Burleson of Boone; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiating will be the Rev. James D. Hagaman. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 10-11 a.m., one hour prior to the services, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
