• Obituary: The Elizabethton Star, 27 Jul 1999, Carter Co, TN. ² Mrs. Barbara Allen Calhoun, 86, 206 Allen Avenue, Elizabethton, died Saturday, July 24, 1999, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was a native of Dickenson County, Va., and had lived in Carter County most of her life. Mrs. Calhoun was a daughter of the late Noah and Sarah French Rose. Mrs. Calhoun was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Clarence Calhoun.
She was a member of Lighthouse for Jesus.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Bea and Jack Campbell, Elizabethton; three sons and daughters-in-law: Donald and Louise Calhoun, Tallahassee, Fla.; Gene and Dottie Calhoun, Fort Myers, Fla.; and Dale Calhoun, Johnson City; one brother, Goble Rose, Clintwood, Va.; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

CALHOUN -- Funeral services for Barbara Allen Calhoun, 86, 206 Allen Avenue, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 1999, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Lester Crawford and the Rev. Greg Marshall officiating. Music will be under the direction of Bud Edwards and Effie Peterson. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Monte Vista Burial Park, Johnson City. Active pallbearers will be Jason Campbell, Jackie Campbell, Wilson Kiser, Allen Loveless, Bud Edwards, O.B. Peterson, Phil Stanley, Eugene Anderson, Ted Rose and Dallas Rose. Honorary pallbearers will be Judy Deloach and the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at the funeral home or at the residence of a daughter, Bea Campbell, 761 Ridgefield Road, Elizabethton, any time. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara married Clarence Tilman Calhoun, son of Wilburn Harrison Calhoun and Frances Lutitia Bentley. (Clarence Tilman Calhoun was born on 19 Oct 1897 in Avery Co, NC ^{3 4} and died in Mar 1965 in Carter Co, TN.)
