• Obituary: The Elizabethon Star, 23 Nov 2003, Carter Co, TN. ³ Lucy J. Blackwell, 408 East C Street, Elizabethton, died Saturday, November 22, 2003 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness.
A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Dick and Lydia Knight Julian.
Mrs. Blackwell was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude B. Blackwell and one brother, William Frank Julian.
Mrs. Blackwell is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara McKinney, Roan Mountain; Jeanie and Lynn Johnson, Elizabethton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dicky and Robin Blackwell, Elizabethton; Gary Blackwell, Elizabethton; Ronnie and Vickie Blackwell, Harrisburg, N.C.; ten grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Vergie Brinkley, Roan Mountain; Thelma Myers, Elizabethton; several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Paul Humphrey officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. on Tuesday for the graveside service. A special thank you to Dr. Todd Whittaker, Dr. David Hardin, nurses Connie and Joy, and all the staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2003 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton or friends may call at the residence, 408 East C Street, Elizabethton at any time.
