Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. The Rev. Glen Fontana will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 tonight at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pekin Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 17, 1924 in Denver to Letcher G. and Alma G. Capis Akers. He married Norma J. Volk on Feb. 25, 1946, in Peoria. She died on June 11, 1996 in Peoria.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Surviving are one son, Stephen (Rose-Marie) of Quincy; two daughters, Deborah (Carl) Meyer of Sandwich and Denise (Jason) Snyder of Pekin; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Madeline "Peg" (Art) Skelton of Fayetteville, Ark., and Mildred (Bill) Heinold of Washington.
