• Obituary: Roanolke Timers, 1 Dec 2012, Roanoke (City), VA. 3 Pearl Irene Thompson, 97, of Christiansburg, passed on peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, November 29, 2012. She was born on December 20, 1914. We were all looking forward to celebrating her 98th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Gold Thompson; two sons, Kenneth and Johnny Thompson; and a daughter, Mary Jones. Precious memories of Mom will live in many whose lives she touched, especially her family of three daughters, Corrine Vaughn, Betty and C.B. Linkous, and Winki and Bud Akers; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Altizer, Imogene Teel, Ida Mae Bishop and Jackie Shelton. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 1, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Raymond Goad officiating. Interment will follow in the Thompson Family Cemetery, Floyd County. Arrangements by Horne Funeral Service.
