• Obituary: LaFollette Press, 17 May 2007, Campbell Co, TN. 4 Claude V. Miller, age 89 of Hammond, IN entered his heavenly home on May 11 after a lifetime of service to his Savior. He was born in Alder Springs on Nov. 7, 1917 to Pryor Lee and Elizabeth (Wilson) Miller. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the European theater during World War II, where he earned five bronze stars for participation in battles, including the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. After 32 years, he retired from the No. 2 Tin Mill at LTV Steel. He was an active and beloved member of the Suburbanite Class and Suburban Bible Church, Highland, IN, after being active at Christian Fellowship Church and serving on the board at Bethel Bible Church, both in Hammond. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and being surrounded by family and friends. He leaves a legacy of faith and integrity and will be missed by all who knew this gentle man.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Sherman (Betty), James, Erastus, Janie (Bunis) Baker, Conda (Lillie), Jessie (Finley) Ayers and Henderson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Thelma Bea Lovely Miller; children, Ves (Marilyn) of Highland, IN and Lydia (Art) Mattox of Twin Lakes, WI; grandchildren, Joanna (Luke), Todd (Crystal), Aaron and Phillip Miller, Stephen, Michael and Zachary Mattox; sister, Irene Pultz; sisters in law, Ruby and Evelyn Miller, both of LaFollette, numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held May 16 at the Kuiper Funeral Home. Interment was in the Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schereville, IN. Kuiper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
