• Obituary: Dignity Memorial. Bonnie Jo McCulloch passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Fort Collins, CO. She was 94 years old.
Bonnie was born to Joseph Eli and Susie Calcoto Gragg on March 24, 1927, in Vian, Oklahoma. She had three sisters and one brother. Having lived such a long life, Bonnie watched a great many friends and family members pass away before her. As such, her childhood can only be seen through photographs. She married Robert Alan McCulloch on March 16, 1947, in Arkansas, where Bob was stationed. They welcomed into the world two beautiful daughters, Cheryl and Joni. Bonnie and Bob were happily married until the time of his passing in 2003.

While they were raising their young family, Bonnie and Bob helped found a water-skiing club that would travel around to many different lakes to enjoy the water sport. They settled on their favorite lake and built a cabin where their kids and grandkids grew up with an extended family of sorts. The friendships Bonnie built with her water skiing family were lifelong and she kept in touch with each of them right up until the time of their own passing.

For 27 years, Bonnie worked for family-owned Chase Jewelers in the Bay Area and took the bus there every shift. She didn't learn to drive until she was in her fifties and never quite got over the fear. When the Chase family retired, Bonnie knew it was time for her to retire, and Bob had been counting the days since he had already retired. They loved traveling, especially cruising and later, RVing around the United States with Bob's brother Mel and his wife Zulema. Bonnie and Bob relocated from San Leandro, CA to Ft. Collins in 2000 to live closer to their daughter Cheryl and her family. She became a member of Timberline Church and enjoyed being social, especially with the Prime-Timers. She was an explorer and she loved having folks to explore with. Bonnie was also part of a ladies' cards group that got together most weeks. Since she didn't drive, they all met at Bonnie's for snacks and laughs.

Bonnie was a terrific grandmother. When she and Bob moved to Fort Collins, she kept a pool membership just so the grandkids and great-grandkids could swim when they came to visit. She also traveled back to CA often to spend time with her daughter Joni and her family. Bonnie stayed active into her 80s, when age and mobility limitations slowed her down. She moved to the Winslow in Fort Collins not long after Bob passed and enjoyed her time there very much. She was very social and loved to show off her family to fellow residents. Bonnie, her daughter, Cheryl, and her granddaughter, Jalynne, especially enjoyed the Mother's Day Tea together.

Bonnie embraced life and left behind her created beauty of paintings and floral gardens. She was loved by everyone that knew her and she will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Susie Gragg; husband, Bob McCulloch; daughters, Cheryl Thompson and Joni Velez; brother, Herbert; and sisters, Bernice, Nora, and Gladys. Bonnie leaves behind a beautiful legacy and is survived by her sons-in-law, Stephen Velez and Douglas Thompson; grandchildren, Tony (Jackie) Velez, Matthew (Dawn), Jalynne (Steve) Brown, and Tamara (Steven) Petty; great-grandchildren, D'Shea, Caiden, Jordan, Shannon, Brittany, Lacey and Madison; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 22, 2021 at 11:00am at Allnutt Drake Chapel, 650 W Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526. Pastor Darren Fred of Timberline Church will officiate. Fond memories can be shared at www.allnuttftcollins.com.
