Ralph York Cobb was Don's father's first cousin, the son of his mother's (Katie Laura Means) sister (Vera Sue Means). On October 16, 1940, Ralph was 22 years old and a student at Texas A&M, living in Bryan, Texas. This draft card is stamped "VOC". We have not been able to find the meaning of this stamp. There is also a hand-written note at the top of the card reading "10-23-45 Hon. Dis. 10-17-45". This note, and perhaps the "VOC" stamp as well, may refer to the fact that Ralph was a college student, deferred by law for a one year period, at the time of his registration, and that he completed military service following his attendance at Texas A&M.
According to the information on this card, Ralph was five feet ten inches tall and weighed 175 pounds, with brown eyes, dark brown hair and a ruddy complexion. He named his father, Charlie Cobb, as a person who would always know his address.
