James William Reed Draft Card

James William (Bill) Reed was Don's uncle, the brother of his father, Henry Lawrence Reed. Bill was 18 years old on December 12, 1942 when he signed this draft card in Houston, Texas. He was unemployed and claimed on this draft card that he was leaving for the Marines on the day after the card was completed. Bill did join the US Marine Corps, and fought in combat in southwest Asia.

Bill was six feet tall and weighed 175 pounds according to this draft card. He had brown eyes, black hair and a light complexion.
