Chop Suey
- 1 lb. pork, cooked and diced
- 1 cup stock from pork
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup onion, diced
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 1 can bean sprouts, drained
- 1 can water chestnuts, drained and cut in half
- salt and pepper
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 3 tsp. soy sauce
- 1 tbl. Chop Suey brown sauce
Thickener:
- 2/3 cup water or stock
- 3 or 4 tbls. corn starch
Brown cooked meat lightly and add onion, celery, seasoning and stock. Cover and cook 5 or 10 minutes. Add bean sprouts and water chestnuts. Bring to boiling point, add seasonings. Mix thickener and add to the pot. Cook 20-30 minutes.
Serve hot over rice or Chinese noodles.
