Strawberry Jam Cake

• 1 cup butter or Crisco
• 1-1/4 cup sugar
• 4 eggs
• 3 cups cake flour
• 1 tsp. soda
• 2 tsps. baking powder
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 2 tsps. cinnamon
• 2 tsps. nutmeg
• 2 tsps. cloves (ground)
• 2 tsps. allspice
• 1 tsp. black pepper
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 1 cup strawberry jam

Cream sugar and butter or Crisco. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift together the flour, soda, baking powder, salt and spices. Add to the creamed sugar alternately with buttermilk. Mix well. Fold in the jam by hand.

Pour into three 9" greased and floured pans. Bake 25 minutes at 350° F.
