Date Cake

Sprinkle 1 tsp. soda over 1 cup of dates.

Pour one cup hot water over dates and set aside until ready for use.

Sprinkle 1 tbl. of flour over 1 cup pecans.

Mix:

• 1 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup butter
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp. vanilla

Add:

• 2 cups flour
• dates
• pecans
• 1/2 cup quartered cherries

Pour into a cake pan and cook at 250° F with a pan of water under it.
